Last but by no means least; we are down to the humble Toyota Prius. It’s no wonder why the Prius, (MSRP $21,725) – pronounced ‘Pree-yus,’ is America’s best selling hybrid to date.
I don’t mean to imply that it’s the best car for the most people by saving it for last, but I will say that a good argument could be made that it has the best all-around mix of features that count.
First of all, it is big enough inside to comfortably seat a family of five, its’ 60 MPGs tie it for first place in the city in fuel economy, and out of all production cars on the planet, it’s got the furthest range on a single tank of gas at 714 miles. Plus, it’s the only hybrid with a hatchback.
The only downside here is that it has the third least (almost tied for second) powerful engine on our chart, so families of five will probably want to think twice about driving this car through the mountains.
In conclusion, it is truly an exciting time right now to be buying A Hybrid Electric Car. The model you buy today shapes the cars that get made tomorrow. If we choose wisely and keep convincing our peers to buy hybrids too, then it won’t be long at all until we’re all driving the 100+ mile per gallon car of our dreams.
If you’d like to see more research and facts on these 13 models, I have placed here on this site a complete Hybrid Car Comparison Chart listing all the important indicators that your mind is probably searching for right now. You owe it to yourself to get all the facts before making such an important buying decision.
