How are hybrid cars powered? What is the
power source of hybrid cars?
A critical power source for the hybrid
car is the battery. A battery found in a hybrid car is similar
to a traditional automobile battery. Both batteries are
rechargeable, however that is where the similarity ends.
Hybrid car battery Vs. conventional
automobile battery
The battery found in a conventional
automobile is primarily used for starting the engine.
This short burst of energy will allow for the engine to “turn
over”. In addition the battery operates the accessories of the
car which include the:
-
radio,
-
power windows and locks,
-
lighting, etc.
These features run off the battery when the
engine is not running. Additionally the battery is kept
charged through the function of the alternator.
